Thus do I go to Jesus Christ
I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept
the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me
a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge,
shall give me at that day:
and
not to me only,
but unto all them also
that love his appearing.
(2 Timothy
4:7-8)

So fahr ich hin zu Jesu Christ,
Mein' Arm tu ich ausstrecken;
So schlaf ich ein und ruhe fein,
Kein Mensch kann mich aufwecken,
Denn Jesus Christus, Gottes Sohn,
Der wird die Himmelstür auftun,
Mich führn zum ewgen Leben. |
Thus do I go to Jesus Christ,
relax my arms beside me;
I work no more and sweetly sleep,
men can no longer call me,
for Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
will open heaven's gate for me,
lead me to life eternal. |

The text is from the German chorale: "Wenn mein Stündlein vorhanden
ist" (When my hour has come), by
Nikolaus Herman, 1500-1561. The music is by J S Bach, from his Easter
Cantata, "Der Himmel lacht! Die Erde jubiliert" (Cantata Number 31).
The following text was read during the Funeral Service at the Meeting
House
To Uncle
Jack:
The Lord your God is with you.
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you.
He will quiet you with his love.
He will rejoice over you with singing.
(Zephaniah 3:17)
With our Love,
Nigel and Patricia (uncle Jack's niece)
